I'm Andy Pollard. I've spent over 30 years working in Cost Engineering across Automotive, Aerospace, Rail, Power generation, and Energy transition. Much of my work has been where design , manufacturing and financial decisions meet, where product cost actually gets decided.

Cost engineering isn't accounting, and it isn't procurement. The focus is on influencing cost before it's locked in, tracking it as it moves through concept, design, sourcing, and production, and correcting course before a small cost variance becomes a locked in.

After three decades of this, I have seen the same problem repeatedly: most manufacturers don't lack effort, they lack consistent cost capability across the full product lifecycle. Full-time senior hires are often more than a specific problem calls for. Going without costs more in a different way, later.
